The CompetitionAt 7:00 PM, Over 350 people packed into the Stanford d.school to watch the SumoSenators do battle and decide the direction of our nation. The matches were dramatic, the roaring of the crowd deafening, the successes ecstatic, and the defeats heart-breaking as SumoSenators tumbled from the field.
Since we were one of the first teams to check off the minimum requirements (beating "The Brick"), we had the second seed in the tournament and were able the get a bye for the first round. In all, Fili-bust-a-move played 6 matches, Sweet 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and then the Final Round 3 times. All matches in the final round were ties against Team Filibuster where both robots were pushed off simultaneously by The Sequester after deadlocking. The competition was eventually declared a tie. How fitting that the Fiscal Cliff competition ended in an unseperable deadlock between Team Fili-bust-a-move and Team Filibuster! The competition was very exciting, and will be fondly remembered in the future. Congratulations to all the teams for a job well done! A selection of competition photos
